On a Windows 11 PC, you may need to enable or disable optional features from time to time. For example, you want to use the Hyper-V feature to install a virtual operating system on your PC. Remove the optional feature from your computer when you no longer require it.

Install Optional Components in Windows 11 using the Settings app
Follow these steps to install optional components in Windows 11 using the Settings app:-
- To begin, press the Windows + I keys to launch the Settings app.
- Select the Apps category in the left sidebar when Windows Settings opens.
- Then, on the right sidebar, click on Optional features.
- Then, on the View features button, a new window will appear with a list of all optional components that can be installed.
- When you’re finished, click “Add an optional feature” to open a new pop-up window.
- Look for the feature you want to install on your computer in the list of optional features. You can also use the search box to find it. Check the box next to the feature’s name.
Tip: Uncheck the box to remove a feature from your computer.
- Then, on the next screen, click the Next button.
- Click the Next button once more.
That is all there is to it. Now you’ll notice that your desired feature is being installed.
Despite the fact that optional features can be installed and uninstalled using the Settings app, some optional components in Windows 11 are only available through the legacy Control Panel interface. For example, on Windows 11, you can only install Hyper-V through the Control Panel.

Install Optional Components in Windows 11 using classic Windows Features dialog
Follow these steps to install optional components in Windows 11 using the classic “Windows features” dialog:
- To begin, press the Windows + I keys to launch the Settings app.
- Select the Apps category in the left sidebar when Windows Settings opens.
- Then, on the right sidebar, click on Optional features.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the Optional features settings page and click More Windows features under the “Related settings” section.
- Select a feature to enable or disable when you see the Windows Features title. Then press the OK key.
Depending on the feature, Windows 11 may take a long time to complete and may require you to restart your computer.
