You can change the display and System Language for the system, settings, and functions in Windows. You can also add multiple languages to your account and switch between them at any time.
Note: If you get a message saying “Only one language pack allowed” or “Your Windows license supports only one System Language,” it means you have a single language edition of Windows 10, and you can’t add another language unless you upgrade to Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro.
Install language pack
When Windows needs to download a new language pack, it must connect to the internet. Please ensure that your laptop is connected to a working network.
- In the Windows search bar, type and search Language settings, then click Open.
- In preferred languages, click Add a language.
- Choose a language you want to install from the list, and then select Next.
- You can install language features by selecting them and then clicking Install. The language pack and related features will be downloaded and installed by Windows.
- After the language pack installation is complete, if you selected Set as my Windows display language in the previous step, you will receive the following notification. If you choose Yes, sign out now, the computer will sign out and the language will be applied. Before signing out, please double-check that all of your work has been saved.
If you choose to sign out later, Windows will change the display language when you sign in the next time.
Change display language
If you have several language packs installed, you can change the display language at any time.
- In the Windows search bar, type Language settings and then click Open.
- Choose your preferred language from the drop-down menu under Windows display language.
- If you choose Yes, sign out now, the computer will sign out as well, completing the system language changes. Before signing out, please double-check that all of your work has been saved.
If you choose to sign out later, Windows will change the display language when you sign in the next time.
Uninstall language pack
Because installing multiple language packs can eat up hard drive space, you can uninstall the language packs you won’t be using.
- In the Windows search bar, type Language settings and then click Open.
- Remove the language you want to remove by selecting it and then selecting Remove. The language packs, as well as all keyboard languages associated with them, will be removed.
