Airplane mode is available in Windows 11, just like it is on a phone. This Airplane mode temporarily disables all wireless communication on your Windows 11 PC. This mode will assist you if you are in a hurry and want to quickly disable all network connections on your computer, including Wi-Fi. Assume you’re traveling by plane and the flight attendants ask you to turn off all wireless communication devices as the plane prepares to take off. This announcement is being made to ensure that wireless devices do not disrupt the plane’s communication systems.
On Windows 11, there are several options for turning on and off airplane mode on your computer. A physical dedicated airplane button is located on top of the keyboard area on either side of some Windows computers. You can quickly turn on or off airplane mode by pressing this key on the keyboard.
But what if you don’t have a physical airplane button on your computer? You can still use the built-in option in Windows 11 to enable or disable airplane mode.

Permanently Disable Airplane Mode on Windows 11
It’s also possible to disable Airplane mode permanently in Windows 11 so that you don’t accidentally activate it. This is useful for users who do not travel with their computer or who believe that Airplane mode is unnecessary. You can’t use either of the above options to enable airplane mode after disabling it with the command prompt. That means you’ll have to use Airplane mode again; instead, you’ll have to activate it from the command prompt.
Follow these steps to permanently disable airplane mode on Windows 11:-
- To begin, open Command Prompt with elevated privileges.
- To disable Airplane mode on your computer, type the following command in the Command Prompt window and hit Enter on the keyboard:
sc config RmSvc start= disabled
The message “[SC] ChangeServiceConfig SUCCESS” will appear on the screen after that. Then restart your Windows 11 computer to see the changes take effect. Airplane mode will remain visible after restarting your computer, but you will not be able to activate it by clicking on it.
To re-enable Airplane mode on Windows 11, type the following command in the elevated command prompt window:-
sc config RmSvc start= auto
When you’re finished, restart your computer for the changes to take effect. After that, depending on your needs, you can enable or disable Airplane mode on your Windows 11 computer.
