You’re probably worried if you’ve misplaced or lost your iPhone, especially if it’s turned off or has a low battery. However, with iOS 15, the Find My app was improved to allow users to locate a device even if it was turned off.
Enable the Find My Network
To use this method, you must first enable the Find My Network feature. Apple claims that enabling it allows you to track down your misplaced device for up to 24 hours, even if it’s turned off. You might not have noticed this additional setting if you’ve already enabled the Find My app on your iPhone. However, it’s possible that after upgrading to iOS 15, Find My Network was enabled by default.
If you have an iPhone in your hands and want to make sure Find My Network is turned on, go to Settings and tap your Apple ID at the top. Choose “Find My,” then “Find My iPhone.” The option to enable Find My Network will appear after that.
There’s also a toggle for Send Last Location, which is a useful feature to enable. If your device’s battery is low, this will send Apple its last known location.
The next time you turn off your device after enabling the Find My Network option, you’ll see a message. This simply serves as a reminder that your device can still be found even if it is turned off.

Find Your iPhone Using Another Device
If you have another Apple device, such as an iPad, you can use the Find My app on that device to track down your lost iPhone. If you share your location with a family member, they can use Find My on their device to locate your iPhone.
We’ll use an iPad in this example. In the small box at the bottom of the Find My app, tap “Devices.” You should see a list of devices with their current locations plotted on a map to choose from.
To see your iPhone’s exact location, tap it in the list. The address should be in the box, and the icon on the map should be visible. You can then use the extra features to make it play a sound, get directions to its location, or mark it as lost.
Find Your iPhone Using Your Mac
If you also have a Mac, you can use the Find My app to locate your iPhone.
On your Mac, open the Find My app and select the Devices tab from the top left. You’ll see a list of your devices on the map, along with their current locations.
