Many Windows 10 users have reported that their cursor or Mouse Cursor Disappeared. This usually occurs after they have upgraded from a previous version of Windows or when they have just woken their computer up from sleep mode.
This is a frustrating – and potentially dangerous – issue. “I can’t even use Windows without a mouse!” you’re probably thinking. Without one, how am I supposed to solve a problem like this?”
But don’t be alarmed! It is possible to resolve this issue without using your mouse. Here are a few solutions to consider.
Re-enable your mouse
Your mouse may have been disabled by Windows during a previous version upgrade or while your computer was in sleep mode. Your mouse will become unusable, and your Mouse Cursor Disappeared. To get your mouse cursor back, you’ll need to re-enable it.
You can re-enable your mouse in two ways:
If you’re using a laptop, try pressing the key combination on your keyboard that turns your mouse on and off. Fn plus F3, F5, F9, or F11 is usually the combination (it depends on the make of your laptop, and you may need to consult your laptop manual to find it out).
In the mouse settings, you can also enable your mouse. To do so, follow these steps:
- Type “mouse” after pressing the Win key on your keyboard. When you see “Mouse settings” in the menu above, highlight it with the up or down arrow on your keyboard, then press Enter.
- Press Tab on your keyboard until Additional mouse options (under Related Settings) is highlighted in Mouse settings. To select it, press Enter on your keyboard.
- Press Tab on your keyboard until the Buttons tab in the Mouse Properties window is highlighted (with a dotted border).
- To open Device Settings, press the right arrow key on your keyboard until the window appears. (Depending on the mouse you’re using, the name of this tab may be different.)
- If your device is disabled, press Tab on your keyboard until the Enable button lights up, then press Enter to turn it on.
- You will be able to see your mouse pointer again if this method solves the problem.
Update your mouse driver
When your Mouse Cursor Disappeared, you can use this method. You can also see if another mouse can be used on your computer so that your drivers can be updated.
If you’re using an out-of-date or incorrect mouse driver, your Mouse Cursor Disappeared. As a result, you should update your mouse driver to see if this resolves your issue. If you don’t have the time, patience, or skills to update the driver manually, Driver Easy can do it for you.
Driver Easy will automatically detect your system and locate the appropriate drivers. You don’t need to know what operating system your computer is running, you don’t need to be concerned about downloading the wrong driver, and you don’t need to be concerned about making a mistake during installation.
With either the FREE or PRO version of Driver Easy, you can update your drivers automatically. However, with the Pro version, there are only two steps (plus full support and a 30-day money back guarantee):
- Get Driver Easy and install it.
- Launch Driver Easy and select Scan Now. After that, Driver Easy will scan your computer for any problematic drivers.
- To download this driver automatically, click the Update button next to the mouse driver. You can then manually install it. Or, if you have the Pro version, click Update All to automatically download and install the correct version of all missing or out-of-date drivers on your system (you’ll be prompted to upgrade when you click Update All).
