The File Explorer icon in Windows 11 can be unpinned or removed from the taskbar. To do so, right-click on the File Explorer icon on the taskbar and choose Unpin from taskbar from the context menu. The File Explorer icon will be removed from the taskbar as soon as you click the Unpin from taskbar button. The File Explorer can be easily removed from the taskbar. However, what if you want to return it to the taskbar?
The File Explorer icon can be re-added to the taskbar for quick access. You may have removed it knowingly or unknowingly; by following the steps in this article, you can quickly restore it to the Windows 11 taskbar.

How to Pin File Explorer to Windows 11 Taskbar?
The following steps must be followed to restore the File Explorer icon to the Windows 11 taskbar:-
- To open the File Explorer window, press Windows + E on your keyboard. You can also right-click the Start button or use the Windows + X hotkey on your keyboard. To open it, select File Explorer from the drop-down menu.
- A folder icon will appear on the taskbar when File Explorer is launched. Right-click the File Explorer (Folder) Icon on the taskbar, then choose Pin to Taskbar from the pop-up menu.
File Explorer is restored to the taskbar of Windows 11 after performing the steps above. Drag and drop its icon anywhere on the taskbar if you want to rearrange it.
This method is not limited to Windows/File Explorer; you can use it to pin or add any missing icon to the taskbar.
