When using a computer, sometimes one screen is not enough. You may have one screen for entering content and another screen for reading. If you have the space, all you have to do is know how to make the most of it. Windows 10 has some options that allow you to divide the screen into different parts and only use the keyboard to move windows.
Split Workload Between Virtual Desktops
Technically, this may not be dividing your screen, but dividing it and expanding it to multiple screens. This is an important basis for our next tips on how to adjust windows and split screens.
In Windows 10, you can create multiple virtual desktops, which is a great way to divide windows and applications, where you can further divide things. Press Win + Tab to go to the task view, then press the “+” icon at the top of the screen.
You can now drag open windows onto the new desktop to split your workload as if you had two monitors. You can use Ctrl + Win + right or left arrow to quickly switch between the two desktops, and further split windows among them, as shown below.
How to Enable Snap Assist
The function that makes segmentation possible is Snap Assist. If you are not sure whether it is enabled, press the Win and I keys to open the settings. When the “Settings” window appears, go to “System” and then to “Multitasking”.

By default, this option should be enabled, but make sure it is harmless. Maybe you closed it for some reason (or someone else).
How to Split Your Screen into Two Windows
The Side By Side method requires the use of a mouse. Select the window you want and then use Win and Left / Right keys to decide which window is on which side.
When a window is set on one side and you see multiple windows available on the other side, use the arrow keys to move from one window to another. Press Enter to select a window. You can also use Win + Down Arrow to close a window and select a different window.

How to Split Your Screen into Four Windows
When three windows are not enough, four windows can be opened. One way is to open four windows and then use the mouse to manually adjust the size you want. Drag each window to its corner.

The above method requires you to use the left / right arrows, but with this method, you will use the up / down arrows. Resize the windows without moving them anywhere, then use Win and the up / down keys to place them where you want. You may want to play with them until you get the hang of it.
If you have two windows open next to each other, click on one of them and press Win and the down arrow key. The window will remain in the lower left corner and the remaining open windows will appear. The one you choose will take up the amount of empty space. Repeat the process for the other remaining window.
It is also possible to make one window larger than the other. Just place your cursor in the corner of the window and make adjustments. Adjust other windows to suit your needs.
Split-Screen Gaming in Windows 10
If you especially want to make some split-screen games on Windows 10, then none of the above is what you want. Fortunately, Windows may be the best split-screen gaming platform, thanks to a tool called Nucleus Coop.
With this tool, you can convert any of hundreds of popular multiplayer games that lack split screen functionality into a fully functional split screen game. You only need to have a copy of the game, because this tool makes Windows run two instances of the game, automatically splitting them into half (or quarters, depending on the number of players) for each fill of the screen.
After downloading Nucleus Co-op, open it and click “Download Game Script” to find supported games. After downloading the script, find the “exe” of the game on your PC to link to Nucleus.

With the game selected in Nucleus, you can then choose how you want to split your screen – vertically, horizontally, or a custom option.

Once you’ve set everything up, click the arrow at the top right of Nucleus to see if there are more options for that game. When you’re ready, click “Play.”
