If you enter an incorrect password too many times or if there is a security issue with your Microsoft account, it may be locked. But don’t worry; recovery (Unlock your Microsoft Account) is a quick and painless process that should only take a minute.
How to Unlock your Microsoft Account
To begin, go to account.microsoft.com and log in to your Microsoft account. You will be notified that your account has been locked, which is normal at this point.
To enter a phone number, use the form on the page. This device must be able to receive SMS messages. The number will receive a one-of-a-kind security code from Microsoft.
Once you have the code, enter it into the form on the website to gain access to your account. You’ll need to change your password right now. It can’t be the same as the one you used before. This is required to ensure that third-party actors are locked out of your account if the lock was imposed due to suspicious activity.
You should be able to log back into your account after you’ve reset your password. Remember to change your password on all of your devices, including Windows 10 PCs and apps that use your Microsoft account, like Outlook and Skype.
